Fusing record with the political and social contexts of currently, Ocom Adonias’s function interprets the working experience of relocating through the planet in a Black system. His lively, reasonable paintings portray persons in regular moments of ritual, solitude, and bonding, honing in on individual narratives to express a broader concept. “I’m particularly interested in the international conversation of what staying an African and what getting Black suggests, record, and the representation of the Black figure in the contemporary perception,” he shares.
Getting worked principally with charcoal on newspapers for a long time, Adonias a short while ago shifted to oil painting, swapping the hazy layers of his prior performs for daring shade palettes and clean up traces. He proceeds to concentration on these close to him, although, translating their discussions into intimate, introspective items.
